The Webb Microtome is designed:

  • To be ethanol resistant and autoclavable.
  • To section fresh and fixed animal and plant tissue.
  • To use one half of a double-edged razor blade.
  • To cut thick sections >100 microns of most fresh or fixed tissues.
  • To cut thin sections <50 microns of firm fresh or fixed tissues.
  • To be particularly useful for acquiring fresh tissue sections for cell culture.
  • To produce sections for low power microscopy.
  • To obtain primary data of raw live tissues without any pre-processing procedures.
  • To produce live sectioned materials for physiological experiments.
  • To be used in a culture hood, on the bench or in the field.
